Christmas Blessings

My family and I had a wonderful Christmas today! We had church at 11:00. The choir did several songs from the cantata that they sang last week. The songs were beautiful and really reinforced the truth that Christmas is about the birth of Jesus. I’m glad we took the kids this morning. I’m also glad because I got to hear some of the songs that I missed last week. (When the choir did the entire cantata last Sunday, I had to leave the service with my older daughter and didn’t get to hear it all.)

My husband and the kiddos opened our presents yesterday so we could all enjoy our presents for the day. I’ve been wanting (and needing!) a new camera. My sweet hubby got me a very nice one!! I was thrilled! I spent some time learning to use it today, and I hope to look at it again tomorrow and hopefully learn more. Then I’ll be able to use more photos on my blog! Hooray! My “old” camera never worked well, and it sometimes doesn’t work at all. Now I’ll have a reliable way to take lots of photos.

We gave my hubby a gas grill and a nice metal fire pit. He loves to grill and is really good at it! He wants to fix up a little place in the yard with his grill, fire pit, benches, etc., and kind of make a little outdoor cookout area. We will be happy for him to grill for us more often, and hopefully the new grill will be easier to use and to clean. The fire pit will be great fun for all of us too because we can use it to roast marshmallows. Yum!

The kiddos each got one or two things that they really wanted, so they were each really happy with their gifts. And it made Scott and me really happy to see their happiness! Many times when I give something to someone who really enjoys it, I think of Matthew 7:11 that says, “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” Isn’t it neat to think that God enjoys giving gifts to us?! Even though we don’t deserve them, God actually wants to give good gifts to us and actually enjoys doing so! Wow!

I hope that each of you had a blessed Christmas with family and friends.  Blessings and merry Christmas!
